ES VIVIR BONITO
ONE FOUNDATION
The One Santuario Natural Foundation is an organization that works for the social, environmental and cultural development of the indigenous, autochthonous communities and inhabitants of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta region. We believe in the value of sowing knowledge in our communities through the connection between artists, managers and cultural leaders with the mountain community, in order to expand the frontiers of knowledge that result in new realities for cultural, social, environmental and economic of the region.
PALENQUE PROJECT
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
Strengthen and generate a sense of belonging through traditional music in children and adolescents of San Basilio de Palenque.
Its main objective is to safeguard the cultural identity of San Basilio de Palenque with boys, girls, adolescents and older adults as the main bearers of traditional ancestral knowledge. Because many of these knowledgeable people were dying without transmitting that cultural knowledge that constitutes one of the elements of Palenquero heritage.
The Ma Monasita ri Palenque kandá group works to counteract this situation that endangers the material and intangible heritage of San Basilio de Palenque as cultural settings.
ONE RESIDENCES
A commitment to the communities of the Sierra Nevada, Palomino and surrounding areas (La Guajira), and with San Basilio de Palenque (Bolívar), in addition to an interest in disciplines that help tell and make stories visible, such as: journalism in different formats, music, cinema and photography, have been the reasons why, together with a unique setting that offers
ONE Natural Sanctuary, the idea of creating an artistic residency program was born.
Give an artist the opportunity to have space to create, along with the possibility of bringing an ongoing or proposed project, with the communities and their own projects related to that of the resident. We want to make the result known to other audiences. Also, exchanging knowledge and experiences between the resident and the communities will be main focuses, as well as inspiring the continuity of these collaborative relationships and amplifying the voices of those who participate.
